I was in Walmart and Kmart a few days ago, and the Lalaloopsy sections in both stores were basically nonexistent: just a few odd Littles and some anniversary minis mixed together in a basket on a shelf. It seems like the trend is over.
After seeing that sad sight, I pulled out my minis collection, which I haven't looked at in a long while, and realized I don't remember the names of half of them. I used to know them all. Family Dollar, where I used to buy minis, no longer sells them.
Are Lalas going to be made much longer? If not, they had a good run.

I don't really see Lalaloopsy coming back in 2017. No stores like Target and Walmart ordered the new large dolls for this past spring (Water Mellie Seeds, Bubbles Smack N Pop, Cake Dunk N Crumble). And one of the Walmarts I visited has no Lalaloopsy dolls at all. Amazon had the new large dolls for a while, but sold out of them and never restocked. I think the Bratz comeback had a lot to do with it. MGA invested too much money and resources with the comeback and the comeback failed, so they had to restructure everything and cut down the number of toy offerings for this coming fall (and the manager at TRU told me MGA is discontinuing Bratz, so that's two major toy lines gone from MGA's portfolio). Project MC2 and Num Noms are the only things going for MGA right now. I was in Walmart and Kmart a few days ago, and the Lalaloopsy sections in both stores were basically nonexistent: just a few odd Littles and some anniversary minis mixed together in a basket on a shelf. I dunno about the US but according to a few online toy industry magazines there is more stuff planned for the UK market this fall. However there is a Netflix series coming up in the US and I doubt that they wouldn't have any toys to support it since the whole point of the show is to sell the dolls.

As soon as they start cheaping out on a toy, it's the beginning of the end. Most toy lines last 2-5 years anyway, so it was a good run.
I've started scouring stores and eBay to fill the holes in my collection. I pretty much stopped collecting minis because they pumped out so many it was ridiculous and large dolls because they were getting cheap on all ready cheap dolls.

I wish I had more I could report to you guys, but I honestly don't have much. While I have come across SOME listings for Lalaloopsy in my searches for this upcoming season, it hasn't really been much (and/or it hasn't been clear enough to me what the stuff actually is) -- not enough for me to post a new list for Fall 2016 yet. I agree with Wardah , that with a brand new Lalaloopsy TV series planned for Netflix beginning in August, it seems unlikely MGA plans to just totally drop the brand. But from what I am seeing and experiencing, it also seems clear that the brand is not a high priority for MGA right now. So ... that's where we are, I guess. The original poster was asking if the Lalaloopsy "trend" is over, and I'm sure no one would argue that the brand is not the "hot toy" it was a few years ago. But when people say the brand itself is just going to end, I'm still not sure I agree with that. I do think it has become somewhat iconic and somewhat of a core brand for MGA. So we'll see what happens long-term. In the short-term, I'll post a recent article here from a UK publication that mentions Lalaloopsy and the fact that there are at least some plans for the coming season...

I really hope they don't phase them out. I just got into collecting them for my 4 year old granddaughter, and am so excited about it ♥
