I ask this because I see so many people post on fb with pics of their "kid's" room and a lot of them have every doll so far and I wonder if that is a good thing? I know growing up my mom and dad bought me a lot of dolls but I never had every doll. Like, Barbie and the Rockers and Jem, I only had 2 or 3 never all of them. It's different if you are collecting but if it is for your child do you give them everything? My own kids have a lot. If you could see their closet you would think I ran a day care center. I have stopped buying toys and only give them things on special occasions now because they have so much and didn't really value the "new" toy that much.
What do you guys think?

We started lalaloopsy from the beginning, when there were only 8. We intended to get all of them but they just keep coming out with more characters. My daughter has most of them but she keeps some @ her grandmas. She sold berry/sunny bc she didn't like them that much and we don't have the boys. Lalaloopsy is her favorite thing and she asks for them for every birthday and Christmas for the last 3 years. Its becoming a space issue now and I have asked her to be more selective, we did not buy Alice since we have her mini.

No because we don't have the space. I hate clutter!

In the beginning I bought all the dolls for me and my daughter had a couple. We keep them all in my sewing room. But now there is far too many so I've almost stopped all together. We're just a littles and mini house now.

We have a lot of minis, but not all of them. She has a few large dolls and a few littles. I only buy her the big ones that are her favorite.

I wouldn't have room in the house for every doll! The girls and I mainly collect the minis, although Middle Gal has 3 of the large dolls (2 were thrift store purchases...$2.99 each is much nicer than $25 to $32!). I've decided to focus on the Target exclusives (aside from the Halloween ones) and the Fairy Tale ones, along with a select few that really strike my fancy. For the girls, I try to find them the ones they REALLY like but not every one. They each have a nice little collection of minis to enjoy.

I have big Suzette NIB & ive kept Peanut NIB for my daughter as well.. my daughter got Dynamite as a Bday party centerpiece, has received 2 littles(Tricky & Pita) & 2 bigs(Misty & Sahara) as presents, big Tippy was her first Lala (easter '10), & i recently bought her Sprinkle & when i saw Harmony on sale online at Target for $24 i HAD to get her! but ill only b buying a select few if any.. i collect Minis- trying to collect them all! but all those are being played with. i meant to keep Suzette nib but, i kept the big doll so the minis are all hers:) we have around 80 & i keep inventory on em lol && i keep all accessories including pets hidden.. Oh, & i should mention, this is the only thing i buy her.. she has the Big Wooden House & we use it as a shelf to store everything..

We have all of the standard minis - every individual character in his/her original outfit, but none of the variations. That satisfies the collector in me, and the diversity and playability factor for my little one.
We have a few large dolls, but don't "collect" them.

I'm most interested in the Oz characters, but Pickles, Cloud E, Kat, and April are going to be really cute, too. I hope they make a mini Sand E so Coral can have a close friend, too.

It's hard to say... I'm the collector, she just gets to enjoy playing with them... I enjoy owning them... so really, lala is mostly for me... she just thinks its for her. Same with MH... now that I'm getting over that... so is she, she'd rather Lala's anyways.

My daughter's a grown up now! She had Barbies for every celebration while she was small, has become a moderate doll collector... She doesn't want replicas of the same doll, not much room to store them, plus we both like to have time to dedicate to every girl (dress change at turn of season or when something new is sewn or bought for them. etc.). So even though she was quite a spoilt child she has become a very careful adult, that surely doesn't waist money!
