Hey everyone! Just curious if anybody else collects MLP? If so, what generation(s)? As of now, all my ponies are a Friendship is Magic, but I'd love to get as many as I can!

We don't "collect" them, my daughter has about 10 MLP, but given to us by a family member (passed down). How can you tell what generation you have?

We have a big drawer full of g3, u can find a lot of them really cheap on eBay in great condition. That's where we got most of ours. The g1 are the original vintage ones, g2 are a little taller i think, but still vintagey, not a lot of that gen. G3 are the ones most ppl have, they have tons of characters and poses. Then g4 are the ones w/ bigger heads and eyes only 7 characters. And g5 is the friendship is magic collection.

Yeah, we don't have any that pose. They just stand in the same position. All of our say 2002 on the bottom. Not sure around what generation that would be.

Mine are G4, and I thought g4 was the Friendship is Magic...? I wasn't aware there was a g5! You can tell by their packaging what generation they are lalacr8zy. The Friendship is Magic is the most popular right now and say "Friendship is Magic" right on them ;D

I just assumed that it would be g5. Maybe not. (g3 isn't posable there are just several poses)

I think we probably have G3. We don't have the packaging.

Normally, I would say that I don't like My Little Pony 'cause I'm a guy, but it seems like the only people I know who like it are guys. Heck, they even get on my case for not being on the bandwagon. I thought maybe the franchise had become super dark and serious, but it still seems very girly to me, so I don't really get it. Oh well.

zt, I believe you're referring to bronies, hehe. Bro + Pony = Brony. I've heard men enjoy the cartoon because the animation is "scary good", they send real-world values, and they're just plain adorable! Some girls refer to themselves as pegasisters(;

Yeah, those are basically the arguments I hear from other guys, but I still just see a cartoon for little girls. I mean, I have nothing against it and I don't think there's anything wrong with adult men watching it (I still like the old Carebears), but I still don't get the fuss. Personally, I think most of them just watch it because it's supposed to be the "cool" thing to do. Or maybe they see it as some kind of replacement for Powerpuff Girls 'cause it seems like it has a moderately similar feel. *shrug*

I appreciate your opinion. I never cared for the whole Brony thing... Some of them are quite rude on YouTube and such. Your definitely right about some doing it because it's "the cool thing" to do now. I've had friends (girls) get yelled at by "bronies" for lame reasons.

Man, the Friendship is Magic cartoon is so not even in the same league as my beloved Powerpuff Girls, but it is very cute and fun for a children's show. I've been watching it with the boyfriend and we agree that it gets better as it goes along, with more interesting scenarios and what not. I haven't collect ponies since I was a little girl, but I do think they're extremely adorable. My favorite generation is G1.
I think I could really get into collecting blindbag G4s, I love the sculpted manes and tails that look so much more show-accurate than messy brushable hair, and I like how cute and little they are. But I haven't been able to find any here yet. So I guess barring their appearance, it looks like my first pony collection as an adult is going to be the new MLP McDonald's happy meal toys that are coming out in March! Haha.

You know, I looked up the show last night for some reason and realized that it was actually created by the creators of Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home. Go figure.

Haha, yeah it is, I kind of assumed you knew that when you mentioned PPG! (Well, I would say Craig McCracken is the creator of PPG, but Lauren is famous for working on it.) I didn't know that about Foster's though. Not too into that show, it's not as good as FiM. But better than many cartoons, that's for sure.

Haha, yeah it is, I kind of assumed you knew that when you mentioned PPG! Nope, it was just a lucky coincidence! I'm not too surprised, though, because they have that whole "girl power" thing going on and there are some similarities in the art style and mood. (Well, I would say Craig McCracken is the creator of PPG, but Lauren is famous for working on it.) Oops, looks like I misspoke slightly. I couldn't remember the exact person involved, so I just went with "creator" and hoped I was right. Heh. I didn't know that about Foster's though. Not too into that show, it's not as good as FiM. But better than many cartoons, that's for sure. Well, my opinions on the shows are flipped (I like Foster's but not MLP), but regardless of our preferences, it's good to see that there are actually some decent modern cartoons for kids. We went quite a few years with some real junk.

As far as I'm concerned, the pinnacle of all cartoon shows is Courage the Cowardly Dog.

I adore the show. It's nice getting to know the characters better. I found myself acting out an episode with my ponies earlier...LOL

I collect MLP. I wouldn't even be into lalas if it wasn't for MLP actually (because they are usually right by eachother in the toy isle LOL). I collect mainly G1s (wingers are my favorite) and G4s, but there are several G2+G3s which I want.
