Patch is a complete hoarder! I know that kids don't care about that but his reaction to Marina cleaning his house is exactly how hoarders react. I get that it is suppose to be fun and maybe I am just sensitive to the issue but I didn't like this episode.

Well, he's a pirate ... they're kinda like hoarders by definition, right? No, I see what you're saying, though. Honestly, it wasn't something I picked up on until you mentioned it though, and Banana definitely wouldn't notice something like that. I think it was true to the doll's original characterization of a "clutterbug collector" type, and I think they meant to make the point to kids that you should respect your friend's space and not make changes without asking first. I will say I did cringe slightly, as a parent, at the message that it was "okay" for Patch to keep his room messy because his "system works for him" and it crossed my mind that she better not pull that out someday as an excuse for not wanting to clean her own room. But I hadn't quite made the mental leap to Patch being a hoarder ...

It's fairly common for cartoon characters to represent various personality archetypes, whether positive or negative. I mean, if we're going to try to personify them, it's bound to happen. It can be off-putting for parents at times, but kids rarely seem to notice. I know it was years before I realized all of the serious issues going on with the residents of the Hundred Acre Wood.
