I have no idea if this goes here or in Off Topic, please move if need be! So I loves me my Ever After High dolls. I even have a forum! Just a few minutes ago I saw on the Toys R Us website a line called Fairy Tale High. You can see them hereThe heads look a little cheap for the price point and they're totally ripping off Ever After High, but I have to know. So of course, I have to hunt them down now and look them over. I'll have to order them off the site. I called TRU and the lady said only California has them right now. They also seem to have Winx bodies but I can't find any Jakks Pacific links for these dolls. Jakks does some Disney Fairies and from what these dolls look like, they're based on Disney designs. Is Skyy a toy maker? If the line doesn't blow up in to a million dolls, I may have to get them ETA: Was able to get a closer look at the body. Not Jakks.

They are cute and are wearing really cute outfits but they do seem to be like a knock off EAH.

I'm really liking Snow White's boots and Rapunzel's hair (of course)!

The logo looks like it says SKYY, but the company that makes these is actually called S-K Victory. I remember when they debuted these dolls at Toy Fair back in February. As far as I'm aware, these have actually been around longer than Ever After High.

Where can you find ever after high dolls? I still haven't seen them in stores... Are they only at justice?

Where can you find ever after high dolls? I still haven't seen them in stores... Are they only at justice? At this point, they're only at Justice, although I believe the plan is to move them to regular stores later in the year. I have to say I'm not a fan of these dolls, even though they're more cheerful looking in the face than the Ever After High dolls (my main disappointment with that line). I think what turned me off to them was seeing their horribly animated promo cartoon on YouTube, which you can see HERE. Not only was the animation awful, but I felt the story was rather bland and unoriginal, especially when compared to the Ever After High webisodes. In my opinion, that's what sets children's shows like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Lalaloopsy, and Ever After High apart from some of the other kids shows out there: they're so well-written that adults can enjoy them too. I do feel sorry for the Fairy Tale High creators, though. It must be horrible to have an original idea and then have someone like Mattel come up with something similar (and do it better, in my opinion).

I've tried to uploaded pics of my girls with their very first Ever After dolls 3 times today and for some reason when the pic comes up it just shows a ?
Anywho- I'll try and post one more time, if it doesn't work - my oldest got Madelyn Hatter (MadHatter's daughter), and my youngest got Apple White (Snow White's daughter).

I'm still intrigued by Fairy Tale High dolls but I have to agree, the webisodes are.....what's the word I'm looking for? Awful? Horrible? They don't make bleach hot enough?
I heard the hair is pretty bad too. But yet it doesn't stop me from wanting one....

I've done that before, where even if I've heard negative things about a doll line, I have to experience the doll for myself.

And have you ever jumped on board with all the great things being said then find out the doll is awful (for you)?

It must be horrible to have an original idea and then have someone like Mattel come up with something similar (and do it better, in my opinion). To be fair, it's not all that original to begin with. They basically just took a pre-existing concept and made dolls out of it. What bothers me is that when the Fables movie comes out, they will most likely make toys out of it, and some people will probably accuse Fables of ripping off the Ever After High line.

For me personally, I don't like how they are claiming them to be the characters. I'm more forgiving about the changes if it's continuing a bloodline and they have an "excuse"
It's not great but at least it can be explained away
ETA: The fact that they didn't name The Little Mermaid is kinda weird too

I'm assuming they didn't give the Little Mermaid a name because the original character didn't have one and they can't call her Ariel for obvious reasons. So, instead of making one up, it's easier to just call her Little Mermaid so kids will still know who she is supposed to be. Same goes for Sleeping Beauty. Although based on a story about a princess named Talia, Perrault's updated and less sexual retelling (the first to be called "The Sleeping Beauty") is more popular and is the version that has been adapted repeatedly over the years. In that, the princess is anonymous, so calling her Talia would make things confusing. They can't call her Aurora because that's the Disney version...they could probably legally call her Briar Rose (or just Rose) but I don't know if kids would be able to make the connection.
As for them being the actual characters...I think it's probably best to just think of them as being in an alternate universe...preferably one with less sexual assault, murder, and cannibalism.

I'm always the bad guy for pointing out that most fairytales were cautionary tales and didn't really have happy endings and weren't all fluffy and warm. There's a doll show this weekend and I'm going to see if I can find some Fairy Tale High dolls. I doubt it but we live in hope, right?
