So after seeing the first 9 episodes of the show, I've made some observations and educated guesses based on said observations.
- None of the characters eat meat. They have milk and eggs (and likely nuts) to get protein. Since they only have one cow and one chicken (or chick, I should say), it would make sense that they want to hang onto those precious resources. On the flip side, they might not even actually need to eat to survive, and only eat for pleasure.
- They seem to have an "everybody shares everything" system in lieu of an economy. Although Bea mentioned having books "for sale", and Pickles talks about her "customers", none of them are ever seen using money. Jewel can just show up at Crumbs' place and ask for cupcakes, or MORE cupcakes, and Crumbs will just do it without expecting any sort of payment. It's sort of reminiscent of early communism. Pillow is a bit of a freeloader, though. Although Jewel provides leadership and organization when needed, she only has as much power as everyone gives her.
- Lalaloopsy Land itself seems to be closed off from the rest of the world (whatever "the world" is in-universe). Although they have technology that harnesses electricity or fuel, they don't have anything associated with media/communication (TV, phones, computers etc.). Between that, the fact that Peanut was able to travel all over Lalaloopsy Land in less than a day (on stilts no less), and the lack of land-based wild animals, Lalaloopsy Land is probably an island. And, due to the nature of their community and how much they rely on each others' skills and resources, there isn't a single Loopsy who could survive on their own on a long-distance trip away from their home since they're all so specialized. There's a good chance that whoever sewed the Loopsies put them into Lalaloopsy Land in order to observe a small, isolated society, and see how they adapt to the various problems that they run into.
- Cement roads exist, and aren't naturally occurring. Someone put those there, and as far as I know, none of the Loopsies specialize in construction work (Forest or Ace come closest, maybe Sunny, but none of those three have ever been seen working with cement). It seems to be one long road connecting the main landmarks of Lalaloopsy Land, and since there's no detours, there's no way for road traffic to enter or leave. Although Marina and Patch have boats, they would be unlikely to set out sail too far away (especially Marina, since she can't swim), and there's a good chance of a natural barrier of sorts such as a large coral formation or whirlpools impeding their progress. Dot has a plane, but it can only accommodate 2 occupants and is easily thwarted by harsh weather (since it's open-topped), so she would be unlikely to try to leave either. The weather may even be artificial, controlled by whoever sewed them. The storm that brewed in the movie? Maybe it only happened because Pillow was straying too far away, and it got worse when Dot and Bea took to the sky. And Dot trying to go to the moon? Mouse (or should I say Mole) took care of that real quick. Closed space.
(More tinfoil hat claptrap to come once I get my mitts on more episodes.)
