Hey guys! Our friends over at Bratz Boulevard have broken some exciting news about a new line of fashion dolls about to hit shelves from MGA! They're called "Vi-and-Va" (short for Viviana and Valentina) and the core line includes the two teen sisters Viviana and Valentina, and their two cousins Roxxi and Felicia.
There are already some listings on target.com, and some people have even seen displays being set up in their Target stores.
Check out Bratz Boulevard's full article and pictures here:

To me they look like Baby Bratz that didn't know how to grow up and just got bigger

I think they are pretty neat. They are supposed to be teenagers and usually dolls of teenagers are skinny but these look kinda chunky.

I think they're pretty cute. It's just their eyes and makeup remind me of dollar store dolls, but knowing myself I'll probably end up getting the four basic versions of the girls

nice to see a different look but they aren't my thing. Still good to see something different and I love the family aspect. Just a little too Kardashian for me

(Technically, the mystery of the store art was solved by Flickr member Teahoshi. He's a friend, so I just wanted to give a nod to his discovery.) The main good thing about these dolls is that we've got an entire line based on a PoC family. I think that's really important and it's one of the reasons I'll be supporting the line. The bodies are definitely interesting. It's nice seeing something that isn't stick thin. They're a little confusing though, because yeah, they look like younger MGAE dolls, such as 4Ever Best Friends and Bratz Kidz. They're even dressed more like younger girls than 15 and 16-year-olds. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it takes a moment to reconcile. The feet are the thing I really don't care for, but perhaps I'll change my mind once I see them in person. But I love the family connection and each girl's passion. Roxxi is my particular favorite. I'm also rather clumsy but a good dancer, so I can relate to her. The eyes remind me of Earth 2 Jane dolls, which I love, so that's a good thing for me: www.flickr.com/photos/venivididolli/5592855061/I think the biggest issue these will have is the price point. For $16.99, the basics don't have much. They have only the most rudimentary articulation and kids are going to know that for $2-$4 less, they can get a basic Monster High doll that's highly poseable. Articulation isn't the be all and end all. (Clearly, because here we are on a Lala board.) But it is an important factor in modern doll lines and I think the lack of it combined with high prices might kill this line.

I love how they aren't white and the family concept. But, they look like Dora the Explorer playing dress up. They also have peg legs (think cankles).

I wish they would show up around here! These are one thing that have been really slow to make it to our area. Their feet do look kinda odd. I just hope they have decent quality hair...

I agree with lenneh. Their eyes really draw me away from the line.

they have cog-like shapes in their eyes?? what's up with that? The exaggerated iris is not doing it for me. I saw these dolls in person and literally cringed.

For those of us who do like the dolls, I found more at one of my Targets. Also got a better picture of the peg legs/cankles:

By peg leg you mean their legs lack ankle definition or that they have swappable feetshoes like Bratz and most Moxie Girlz? Because the latter is usually what is meant by peg legs in the doll world. I personally wouldn't want to swap out the bodies because it's nice that they are thick and not super skinny like all the other dolls out there. I'm just hoping we get like a dance line or something with more articulation that keeps the thickness.

I meant almost no definition in the legs, not just the ankles.
And I think I may have put my finger on what I don't like about them. They look like baby dolls to me. I never liked baby dolls. And the fact that they're 15 and 16 and look like 6 year olds who got into their mom's closet.

As long as they don't have feetshoes I'm good. It seems the eyes look better at a distance than up close.

New Fashion Doll Line Inspired By Latin Culture Launches: Vi and Va Dolls Celebrate Family Bonds And TraditionsLOS ANGELES, Feb. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- As of this month, girls now have beautiful doll choices that celebrate unique Hispanic cultural traditions. Vi and Va, a new line of fashion dolls from MGA Entertainment, the world's largest private toy company, are now available at Target stores nationwide and on Target.com. Viviana (Vi) and Valentina (Va) are sisters, and best friends with their cousins, Felicia and Roxxi. For these girls, every day is an adventure and a reason to celebrate the bonds of family and friendship. "We have always made dolls that appeal widely to all types of girls," said Isaac Larian, CEO of MGA Entertainment. "In 2002, our multicultural Bratz brand launched, serviced an untapped market, and skyrocketed to success. So when this unique opportunity arose to launch Vi and Va at Target stores, we knew all girls would love to have doll choices that celebrate some special Hispanic customs and traditions." The Vi and Va brand launches with the introduction of four unique characters, with more planned in the Fall. Vi, 16, is spontaneous and easy going. She's passionate about sharing her love of music, and she's always ready to break out her guitar at family gatherings. She also loves creating new styles as a fashion designer. Va, 15, is so neat and organized. She loves learning to cook from her mother and grandmothers. She's already perfected several savory family recipes, like empanadas. She also loves trying out new hairstyles, and making herself look unique with ribbons and flowers in her hair. Felicia and Roxxi are Vi and Va's cousins. Felicia is 17 years old and an artist. Roxxi is 18 years old and a dancer. The product line includes several dolls and activity sets to help little girls play out each character's storyline and enjoy her special talents. The line also has a birthday party collection, where the family celebrates Vi turning 16 and Va turning 15 with a combined party. Girls can even dress up and join the fun with role play and styling accessories. The full assortment of Vi and Va fashion dolls is available at Target stores and on Target.com.
