I just got the basic Bryden. I love "ethnic" dolls but the eyes on this one fall short for me, they need to be darker. And in MHO: Hair is a B+, it's actually wavy! But not as soft as it could be Facial features A-, the eyes..... Basic body C-, hard plastic, no knee/elbow joints, cheap hollow body Clothing C, Bryden's clothes are an eyesore, the leggings and shorts don't really fit Price F-, for $15 you get a cheap doll and brush and no other accessories or stand, should be about $10..... They sort of remind me of Liv dolls with the inset eyes. I took a bunch of pictures but the Proboards app isn't opening on my phone and for whatever reason my e-mail isn't getting the pictures I text When I figure it out I'll update.

Finally. She had very Monster High/Ever After High feet but the shoes don't fit. Her feet also have wrinkles!

They had a tough choice with the eyes for this line, because the dolls are very clearly based on the 4 actresses, yet they changed both Bryden and McKeyla's eyes. But on the other hand, all four actresses have brown eyes and most doll lines like to be diverse in that area. Eh, at least they're not blue. I do love the green eyes on both girls, so I can't complain.
I got two of the basics first and yeah, they're definitely overpriced. I liked the hair on both my girls and the clothes are mostly cute (I hate beanie caps though), but the articulated Science Fair line is the one to get. The articulation is excellent, the faces and hair are lovely, the outfits are extremely detailed and mostly separate pieces, and I love the science experiment aspect. I think my only complaints were that McKeyla's hat doesn't look good if you unattatch it from her head (unless you pin it down like I had to), her bag doesn't open far enough and should have been fabric, and one of her arm joints is a bit weak. Don't think I had any complaints about either Camryn or Bryden. Bryden's hair is great in that line. I have Adrienne on her way from TRU.com and I can't wait for her to arrive. The show looks cute, too. I wish this line could get attention like the Bratz are getting, because this one is WAY better than Bratz.

Update: I had to return Bryden. I tried changing her clothes and her right leg fell out. Just fell out, almost all the way. I was really disappointed but I'll try the Science Fair line. My TRU has them for $25 and layaway. I really hope this line goes somewhere! Every "smart" doll for girls gets killed pretty quickly

Banana's really getting into these girls. I wish I had Netflix so she could see more of the content, but for now I guess we can only see whatever they put online. We got two of the basics, Adrienne & Bryden, and so far we haven't had any issues with them. She's been playing with their hair, switching their clothes and stuff. We just picked up the deluxe McKeyla but haven't opened her up yet.
Here's a review we did for the two basic girls we got. I'm with you guys - really hope this line lasts and does well. Love the concept!!

Love the concept!! It's about time a doll line for girls does well without being flaky, pretty, pretty princesses. I will be supporting this line and collecting all of them. I have the worst luck and probably just got the only one that slipped through QC. After I get back from the Volks Dolpa all 4 Science Fair girls will be going on layaway at TRU

hehe Have yet to see any pics of the new Bryden though. Wonder what's up with that?? Because Dot syndrome. I'll be surprised if she gets any attention after the obligatory "see, we're diverse!" doll.

MGA tends to put AA dolls in their own case. The theory is that it's so they can allot the dolls to areas where the demographics say they will sell better. Great for a black child who lives in a mostly black area. Not so great for a black child who lives in a mostly white area or for white children who need to be exposed to diversity or adult collectors. Mattel does similar with Barbie and Disney Princesses except they just have different case assortments.

We found them today and no Bryden in stock at the location we visited, but yes Wardah as you said, there is a picture of her on the box, so hopefully she will be coming eventually. :/
