I have only 2 of the historical dolls (Nellie & Kit), which are still in their boxes waiting until my twins are ... um, 20?! LOL! I now need to get one for my youngest. What are your favorites? And do you get all the books, outfits, etc? It can be super expensive. I have not yet...

My daughter collects them. She has Bitty Baby, Bitty Twins, Girl's of the Yr --Chrissa and Gwen, Lanie, Kanani. The only historical one she has so far is Elizabeth(we bought her before she retired). We just get the dolls, books and outfits, the other stuff is so expensive. She is just into changing their look.(hair and clothes). Now she wants to put that on hold for now, and collect the Lalas.

I am a 6 year AG collector with a very substantial collection. Let me know if there is anything you'd like to see, or if you need more info on AG collecting!

Thanks! I found the book sets for $10 less on amazon.com, so I think I might go that route. And I am thinking about purchasing the newest historical doll (Marie-Grace?) from New Orleans. I just love New Orleans and everything about it, so I am excited about that.

I love them! I think a mini Lalaloopsy doll would look so cute in a display as an American Girl's little doll!

I love American Girl!
I have 10 historicals - Felicity, Elizabeth, Josefina, Kirsten, Addy, Samantha, Kit, Ruthie, Molly, and Julie
7 moderns - Kailey, Jess, Kanani, #24 Sue Ellen, #27 Catherine, Camilla (an Elizabeth with cut hair), and Elliana - ( a Josefina who still needs a new wig)
2 made up historicals - Eveline Joyce who is a 1950's Molly who doesn't wear her hair in braids and Zoey who is a 1970's Samantha
My favorites are the historicals and my goal is to eventually have all the historicals. Most of my AGs were bought at thrift stores for $10.00 dollars or less. That is the only reason I have so many. The only ones that weren't bought at thrift stores are Ruthie (bought at an indoor garage sale), Kit (bought from AG Playthings) and Kanani, who is the only I bought new.
My overall favorite historicals are Kit and Molly. I like their time periods. My most "played with" doll is Jess. She is usually the main doll in photo contests I enter and she also has her own blog: livinglifeasjess.blogspot.com. It hasn't been updated in a long time, though. It is something I need to work on now that I've finished school.
It's great to know there are other AG collectors on this board!

You can find me on AGPT as well. We have a pretty good number of AG's. Christmas will be all about AG and Lala's this year at our home.

Yup! I'm an assistant moderator (Aaryana) over on AGPT. I have somewhere around 30 AG dolls, but that number is always in fluctuation. My favorite AGs are the ones I've customized.

I'm also an AG doll lover. I have 11 AGs, but I've reached a point where I'm overwhelmed by the number. I feel I have too many. So, I plan to trade them in a near future for Monster high, or Lalaloopsy dolls. I need to find balance in my dollie collection.

I have Molly and a Bitty Baby but they're packed away. I loved them dearly when I first got them but then they were kind of forgotten which is a sad thing to do with toys

I think they are so adorable, but thankfully, they've not become a Must for me. But I do have an AG school desk I am looking to sell if anyone would be interested.

Yes. They aren't currently getting much play time, but my daughters have: Jess, Lanie, Chrissa, Lindsey, Ruthie, JLY 24, and MyAG 17.
We've had Julie, Ivy, Samantha, Felicity, and JLY 28 however they have been adopted to other loving homes.
My girls seem to play with their Bitty collection more often.

I sure am! (I recognize some of you from AGPT) We have llike 10 or 12 AG dolls in our house. We got into collecting Mini Lala's because they are perfectly scaled for AG dolls (and, well, adorable)

LOVE American Girl! They're my favorites of all the dolls I collect, and the books taught me all I needed to know about history. I got my Bitty Baby (blonde/blue-gray eyes), Julie, for my third birthday (this was BEFORE that 70s brown eyed hippy chick came along and stole her name ). After that came six 18" lovelies (starting with Miss Felicity). I have Felicity, Elizabeth, Kit, Jess (GOTY 2006), Nicki (GOTY 2007), and a custom (who started life as a Felicity doll).
