www.fox23news.com/news/local/story/Bald-Barbie-idea-catches-interest-of-toy/iPBbL8fNjkSrIyw64NchlA.cspxA local organizer of the Bald Barbie Facebook page says they've caught the attention of a U.S. toy manufacturer.Greenville resident Alyse Cook tells us the idea for a Bald Barbie has been picked up by MGA Entertainment, the creators of Moxie Girl and the Bratz Dolls. Cook says she got an email from MGA saying they will be stepping up to the plate to mass produce a bald doll for cancer patients. Cook is still waiting on further details from the company.

Children/people are widely diverse, so toys should also be.

Interesting. This certainly would've saved my mother a lot of grief; my little sister used to cut the hair off of all her Barbies. I don't think baldness would really work well for a Lalaloopsy and wouldn't make as much of a statement as a more human-like doll. A bald human would look like a bald human and would be more likely to bring up the subject of cancer, but a bald Lala would just look unfinished.
According to the link posted above, these people are also petitioning for a bald G.I. Joe... Should someone tell them that there are already several bald G.I. Joe characters/toys? Gung Ho, Roadblock, and Dragonsky (he's technically not a Joe, but he's still a good guy) immediately come to mind. I'm sure there are probably more. There are even plenty of bald COBRA members such as Destro, Serpentor, and Mindbender for the kids who prefer villains.

I've always wanted deaf, blind and handicapped dolls. A bald lala seems like she'd be unbalanced. Her head wouldn't have the floppiness we all love.

Wouldn't a deaf doll look just like any other doll? Yes, but looks aren't all a doll has. They have personalities and accessories. But, I didn't mean a deaf lalaloopsy. I was talking dolls in general. I don't think a deaf lalaloopsy would appeal to young children, like they are aiming at.

The Bratz and Moxie Girlz True Hope dolls actually do come with little hats you can put on, so I guess they decided it doesn't send a bad message ... though I am glad they opted not to produce any wigs for these dolls.
