Can anyone tell me how they do this? My son decided he would really like a boy with green hair so I was going to get Ace and attempt to paint him. I've been looking up repainting tutorials for dolls in general so I have some idea of the process. Do you use thinned acrylic paint on the hair too? I have acrylic paint and textile medium on hand already. Do you have to prep it in any way? What kind of sealer do you use? Do you tape off the face or just go really carefully around the hairline?
Sorry for so many questions. I know some people don't like to share their specific techniques and that's fine. I'd appreciate any guidance I can get!

I use regular acrylic paint (the kind that comes in 2 oz. bottles). I don't thin it, and I don't prep the doll. Although if you're painting a lighter color onto a darker color (for example, yellow over brown), you're going to want to paint over whatever it is in white first. I use a satin varnish as a sealant. I don't tape anything, I just paint carefully. If you have any more questions, I'll try to answer them!

Thank you for replying! I am trying my hand at painting new hair on one of the Littles right now which I suspect is somewhat different from the full-size dolls since the Littles just have painted-on hair instead of being made from different plastic. I just need one more coat and then to seal it and I'll post some pics. Where do you get your varnish? I originally bought Mod Podge spray sealer since that was all they had at my Wal-Mart but I've been googling and it seems that's not the best one to use on dolls.

Sorry, I just saw your question. The Littles' hair isn't as easy to paint as the bigs in my opinion. Yeah, I wouldn't use Mod Podge on it. I get mine at Hobby Lobby. I think the brand I buy is DuraClear, and it's down the aisle where the bottles of acrylic paint and spray paint.

Yeah I think starting with a Little was a mistake, but it's done and it looks reasonably well. I'll try to remember to take a picture tomorrow. Thanks for all your advice, I really appreciate it!
