It wasn't too hard. I just pryed the old waxy strands out and wedged the new hair into the grooves. Then I took some mod podge and stuck it into the grooves so they would stay into place. I'm not sure how sturdy it would be for play tho.

I actually think taking off the head wouldn't be helpful with these kind of heads. I dont even think the hair is accessable from the inside. They have a few grooves molded in them with a bar with teeth underneath holding the hair in. I'm not sure about the ones that have ponytail hairstyles tho.
