Hello! I’m glad a forum for Lalaloopsy exists, it feels like a somewhat forgotten toy line in the circles I’m in.
I don’t know much about the whole product line. I was born in 2004 so as you can imagine, I was right in the target demographic when they came out in 2010. So I remember the stuff your average person they were marketing to probably would.
My parents got my little sister and I a two-pack with Berry Jars n’ Jam and Sunny Side Up. Berry was mine, and Sunny was hers. Even tho they’re supposed to be twins (I assume) we pretended Berry was older and Sunny was younger to match us.
Even tho I always loved the button eyes and rag doll aesthetic I...wasn’t the biggest fan of the dolls. They were large and top-heavy, hard to play with, and I vividly remember the head falling onto my finger and hurting me multiple times. So poor Berry usually stayed on a shelf with her cow.
My heart mostly lay with the Lalaloopsy Minis. My best friend at the time gifted me the Spot Splatter Splash mini because she reminded her of me. I got the Blossom Flowerpot mini next and then I was hooked. I collected as many minis as I could (which really isn’t a lot but it was a lot for little me, it was rare for me to stick to one toy for long) and I put extra effort to keep the tiny accessories and house boxes safe (something unusual for little me). I...can’t really remember the exact stories I would play with them unfortunately but I know I liked them and played with them quite a bit. I even played some of the games on the website. Remember the game that had no bgm and consisted of just running around an empty Lalaloopsy Land?
I still have them all to this day (although with some missing accessories and houses) and after setting them up into a nice little display with large Berry looming over them in the background I started researching them more and what a cute doll line! I love the emphasis on creativity (all the create your own gimmicks and the styling gimmicks...). I would love to collect more minis to add to my collection. Definitely would be a change of pace from the main toy I collect being MLP.
I think I want to try getting some of the regular sized Lala Ponies too, I remember actively avoiding them when they came out because “They ripped off MLP!” But now I think they’ll be a great addition to my MLP collection.
Happy to have found this forum!
