I'd like to do a bit of research concerning scale, but I have nothing to back it up as I don't own a doll yet. To my understanding, Loopsies are 12 inches tall - the same height as that of a standard Blythe doll. There's a bevy of fine "playscale" doll furniture and accessories out there, and Blythe is one of the dolls most commonly associated with that scale among collectors, photographers, and crafters.
Now, notice I'm not talking clothing - we have the wonderfully talented Elwynn to thank for that! - but beds, bedding, other furniture, carriers, display pieces, "little extras", and so forth. It would be nice to compile a list and photos of generally available items Loopsies can and cannot use, as well as an index of those who offer such handmade items.
I have my eye on a particular Etsy bunkbed set that's labeled as "perfect for Blythe, Dal, and YoSD ," all of which are of about the same build. I'd love to be able to know if it is Loopsy-compatible before I winnow away the $60.
Are any of you in the same position as I am, or are you mostly improvising with furniture for larger dolls (American Girl, etc.)? For some reason, if and when MGA releases furniture and playsets, I'd still prefer to use handmade props.
I mean, the entire background and philosophy of these dolls centers on the very fact of how and from what they were "sewn." To me, that's more of a spur to creative-minded Etsy-types than it is to big-name retailers, inspiring more of the story to be "sewn."
I'm so glad these dolls already have the support they do from the crafting community and that items custom-made for them have already started popping up - so, what's keeping us from finding even more?
