I am hoping that we can all contribute in sharing supplies that are imperative to creating our OOAK Lalaloopsy Dolls and making sure we are using supplies that will withstand, considering what the dolls are made of.
I find that most people are reluctant to share their hints and tips, and even specific supplies used because they dont want to share their secrets. So I would love to see a thread where we can all share, specifically in the customs and learn from one another so we can create the dolls we dream up in our funky creative brains!! <3 ;D

I customize My Little Ponies and Monster High dolls and plan to eventually do Lalas, when I have a little more time tomorrow I will share some of the information I have learned doing those as I think it would translate to Lalas well.

I have no problem sharing what I do when I customize dolls, or any other crafts. I figure, I wouldn't be able to do any of the crafty things I do if someone hadn't taught me, so I don't see why to keep it secret from everyone else. I've customized one Lala, and have two on the way to custom in the same way. I just take average acrylic paints and mix them with a small amount of textile medium (for those not familiar with textile medium, it's an antiquing stain that helps the paint stain the surface for a longer lasting color). If the paint is too thick I thin it with tap water. After I'm finished painting, I use a matte spray sealer for good measure. I use the sealer for all crafting projects and have never had an issue with it. I assume between the stain and the sealer the paint won't rub off anytime soon, but I don't have any little kids around to test that. I've never done so myself but I've seen people add tiny jewels to the eyes of the minis for some sparkle. Very cute. I imagine you could make a pretty pattern on a large doll with jewels, especially for a fairy or something. The biggest issue I had was remembering that I can't paint so much at once that there's no way to put them down without ruining their paint. With my custom I at one paint had to hold her by her head while her skirt dried haha.
